Conversions
Cake Poker is not the most familiar poker room amongst poker communities and the general public, which can sometimes mean that the conversion rate will be smaller in comparison to heavily branded rooms like Full Tilt or PokerStars. However, Cake Poker still manages to obtain a strong conversion rate, and entice many of its play money players to try out the real money games. Needless to say, if you promote the Cake Poker room well enough, you should have no trouble obtaining a strong number of conversions with this affiliate program.
One of Cake’s strong points is its ability to retain the players that sign up at the poker room. Cake offers a very unique ‘Gold Card’ loyalty system that makes it an addictive room to play at. Therefore any real money players that you refer to the room are likely to stick around and play at the room for a long time, which helps to boost your affiliate commission from month to month.
Backend
The affiliate backend is pretty standard, offering everything that you should expect from a typical poker affiliate program backend. The homepage offers a list of quick links to key affiliate reports, which helps to speed up the time between logging on and finding out about your latest referrals and commission.
The affiliate statistics are also pretty standard, displaying all the important information such as impressions, click-throughs, downloads, sign-ups, commission and so on. However, the reports can often be slow loading, especially if you request a report spanning over a long period of time.
The backend makes it easy to find all of your text links and banners through the marketing tools menu, meaning that you should not have a problem finding all the promotional material that you might want to add to your site. By far the best feature of the Cake Poker backend is the ability to create your own bonus codes, instead of having to request them from support. This means that you can quickly create your bonus codes as you wish, without the delay of having to wait for a reply from your affiliate manager.
Support
This is where the Cake Poker affiliate program really excels. Cake has some of the best affiliate managers in the industry, as they are always happy to help every affiliate that comes to them asking for help, no matter how big or small the affiliate may be.
Many affiliates fall in love with the Cake affiliate program because of the very close relationships that can be formed between the affiliates and the AMs, which can only help to increase conversions and the development of the affiliate’s sites.
For example, Cake Poker sent out some video Ipods to a number of affiliates as a Christmas present in 2007, even though some affiliates may not have been generating substantial amounts of revenue for the room.
Additional Notes
Cake runs some great loyalty programs such as the ‘Gold Card’ program to entice players to return the tables on a regular basis. This promotion involves cash game players being randomly awarded various ‘Gold Cards’ which can be redeemed for prizes depending on the different combinations of cards that players can collect.
The room in general is very functional, although the graphics may appear to be a little basic to some. However, this won’t concern many players at all, as they will enjoy the many features and promotions that are available at Cake Poker.
Cake currently does accept players from the US, which means that you can happily market the room to US visitors without fear that you may be losing commission due to the fact that they would be unable to sign up.
